Prisoner's Prayer

This is no way for it to be

For man he should be free

Sleep comes to me, but slowly

Pray these words, these words are Holy

Chorus

Pray it good, pray it right

Say one for me tonight

May the Scriptures bring me peace

And talk of solace brings release

They lead me evermore to God

It does not seem so very odd

Chorus

His gift to me is very clear

Feel the presence drawing near

Giving mercy and redemption

Gives it now without exemption

Chorus

Caress me, put me at my ease

My jailers may do what they please

I know no harm can now befall me

Now my Angel, now she calls me

Chorus

Prisoner's Prayer was inspired by the writings of the infamous  serial killer Ted Bundy to the author Anne Rule whilst he was awaiting his fate on death row.  Whether he actually found his God or indeed whether anyone prayed for him is uncertain. What we do know is the majority of the American population celebrated his death at the hands of "Old Sparky"
